THE UN-PRIVACY POLICY

This work focuses on surveillance culture and the dissolution of boundaries between public and private spaces. The artist created a life-size installation of a bathroom cubicle, employing monochromatic colors to enhance the stark, clinical atmosphere. Inside the cubicle, she placed mirror-tile-covered surveillance cameras, which blurred the line between privacy and observation.

The installation was interactive, inviting visitors to step inside and experience the blend of public and private space firsthand, challenging their understanding of what is truly private in an age of constant surveillance.

To extend the concept, the artist then created surveillance-like videos using TikTok as a medium—capitalizing on the platform’s data-tracking nature. These videos reflected the watchful eye of technology, turning the act of self-expression into another form of surveillance.

Through this piece, the artist forces the viewer to confront the idea that no space, not even the most private, is free from observation, questioning the impact of surveillance culture on personal freedom and privacy in the digital age.
